crude steel production in the EU was 12.2 million tons, down 0.4% year-on-year; crude steel production in North America was 9.6 million tons, down 7.0% year-on-year; crude steel production in South America was 3.8 million tons, up 11.4% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 3.6 million tons, up 1.5% year-on-year; and crude steel production in the CIS was 9.2 million tons, up 1.5% year-on-year.
