Usually the hot rolling lubricant is delivered to the surface of rolls in the form of oil-water mixture, water is the carrier, and a small amount of oil is evenly dispersed in water. The action process of oil-water mixture is the transformation process of water-in-oil phase to oil-in-water phase. After the mixed liquid reaches the roll surface, in the form of oil in water quickly in the roll surface, when entering the deformation zone and high-temperature rolling contact, due to the role of temperature and pressure, the water quickly evaporated and turned into oil in water phase, part of the oil burned into ash-based combustion; part of the oil is in the form of oil film uniformly covered in the roll and rolling contact arc, both in the deformation zone about 0.01s of time Both can play the role of lubrication.

General hot rolling oil consists of base oil and oily agent two parts, base oil has mineral oil, polyolefin, ester oil; oily agent has animal and vegetable oil, fatty acid, advanced fatty acid, synthetic grease, solid lubricant, etc.
